Turn On, Tune In

It's been slowly creeping into our wardrobes for about a year now, by way of forehead-hugging headbands and floral prints.  However, as Fall Fashion Week proved to be the acme of the Boho trend, I can't help but draw a parallel between the loose, flowing fabrics and the timing designers have chosen for these designs to reemerge.  As Americans divide over Iraq and and trust in our country's leader wavers, the 60's and all of the political turmoil that came with that decade is easily drawn to mind.
Beads, feathers, caftans, and soft but busy prints are easily recognizable in both the current pages of Vogue and the pages of any history book.  This deviance from structured looks and tight lines was most apparent at shows like Diane von Furstenberg, where models had feathers and flowers strung through their hair, even while showing a (rare) vested pantsuit.
Between a bell-sleeve mini dress and a fluid floor-length floral gown, the looks were woven with a bit more than a suggestion of the 60's.  Rebecca Taylor channeled the look, adding forehead bands to each look while dotting the collection with fringed bags. (Jimmy Choo, Diane Kid Fringe Hobo, $1495, Saks)

The differences between the reemergence of this trend and the original lie in the ability to wear it.  Those who indulged in these fashions in the 60's were of similar cultural beliefs, whereas today the trend has the ability to be pervasive.  In other words, you can finally wear the clothes without smelling like a bong!

You Won't Forget If You Wear This

Voting is what all good Americans do.  Wearing cute accessories is what all stylish Americans do.  So why not be good AND stylish?  We came across this Renee Frances gold-plated "VOTE" ring and fell head-over-heels!  It's a witty interpretation of Robert Indiana's "LOVE" sculpture (and who doesn't love LOVE?)

You're little sparkling reminder to vote is available at the Renee Frances online store for $110.

Enjoy!

The Fall Bag That I've Been Craving

Usually we think of beautiful, rich, autumn colors for our accessories this time of year... This year is a little different for me.  Call me crazy, and maybe it's just my pregnancy hormones, but I've fallen totally in love with this ultra-chic Carlos Falchi Drawstring Bag.  The deep teal alligator skin will compliment just about everything...

  • Jeans and billowy blouse? Check.
  • Slinky dress and heels? Check.
  • Leggings and long sweater? Check.
  • Any other fab fashion concoction? CHECK!

With a belted top, rolled leather handles, and precise stitching... What's not to love?

We found it at Avelle.com for $295 per month, which is perfect for us, because by October our fickle hearts might just fall in love with the next incredible Falchi bag!

Badgley Mischka Shake Up Formal Wear... Again!

Mark Badgely and James Mischka have been designing the gorgeous gowns and Hollywood-elite styles that we've been following every season. This season's inspiration was "the golden age of ocean travel."

The colors from this collection are light, frothy, and will pair especially well with simple, dewy makeup.  You'll notice this season is a little airier than in the past.  No more heavy beading, crystals, or over-the-top extravagance.  These gowns were designed with chic, elegant women in mind.

Sounds good to us!  According to the fabulous duo, each dress from their Spring 2009 collection weighs only a few ounces.  We love fashion that doesn't weigh us down:)

This is How Lipstick Makes a Comeback?

In recent years lipstick has fallen by the wayside... front-runners like gloss, balms, and tints have won us over with their ease of use and versatility.  But it seems like lipstick is poised for a major comeback.  We've never seen an American VP candidate use the word "lipstick" so many times in a campaign speech before... and it makes us wonder just how many American women are actually going to dig to the bottom of their makeup bags, cosmetic drawers, and purses to come up with their old, faithful friend: Lipstick.
We're waiting to see which major cosmetics companies start endorsing Sarah Palin!

Fashion: Iodice and MySmartPac at NY Fashion Week

I am such a huge fan of Valdemar Iodice and his amazing 'Iodice' line. Their showing at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in NYC ( so sad it's over...BOO!) was truly spectacular.

Such a fun-filled event with amazing guests...such as Victoria Silvstedt-- What a style icon

And take a look at those gorgeous Christian Louboutins...
The clothing- as always- was amazing. Everything from structured jackets, to unconventional cocktail dresses, to flowing floor-length gowns that would give a girl the BEST reason to visit St. Tropez in the summer...just to flow through the beach parties in style! Here was one of my fav looks:

And of course, in true luxury fashion....the gift bag was filled with goodies galore. They included my fav newtravel accessory MySmartPac-- check it out! The best idea for environmentally-friendly travel sized toiletries. This will let you FLY through airport check in without a single problem! ( as if I need ANOTHER reason to travel?!)

Did you have any fav looks from the Iodice Spring 2009 show??

What do you think about MySmartPac??

Let me know!
